The Best Breakfast: The Birdcage

The Birdcage is a popular cafe and restaurant located inside the Mt Buller Chalet Hotel, on the left hand side of the Bourke Street Lift making it one of the most convenient locations to grab a bite to eat before starting your of skiing or snowboarding. This charming cafe is mostly all indoor, open from 8:00am till late so you can stop by for a jumbo sized hot chocolate to warm you up before a jam packed day of skiing on the slopes. Inside the Birdcage, you will find a warm space with dark wood tones, stone walls with large windows allowing the snowy views to fill the warm escape with the joy of Buller’s busy slopes. Their coffee is locally sourced from the Mansfield Coffee Merchant, so you are supporting not just one but two local businesses when you choose coffee from The Birdcage. Our personal favourites from their menu are the Avocado Toast, the Brekky Burger, the Chilli Scramble and the Pancakes. Be sure to stop by the Birdcage for your pre-ski fuel up when at Mount Buller or stop by for lunch or dinner if you are up for a cocktail and some chips for some Après Ski.
